   "The Mental Giant of Gotham City" (Batman) / Edmond
   Hamilton, script ; Dick Sprang, pencils ; Charles Paris,
   inks. p. 25-34 in Batman Annual, no. 3 (Summer 1962) ;
   reprinted from Detective Comics, no. 217 (Mar. 1955). --
   Summary: Barney Barrows is a janitor for the Gotham Police
   Department, when he is caught in an explosion of the "big
   x-ray machine" he's mopping behind. Though he has
   previously failed the examination to be a police officer,
   he now gains an enlarged head and more brain power. He
   deduces the secret identities of Batman and Robin, and
   forces them to follow his orders while they look for the
   Metals Mob, stealers of things like iridium, tantalum,
   tungsten and "all those rare metals." It turns out the
   Kyler Aluminum Co. is fencing the metals, and smuggling
   them inside hollow bars of aluminum. Just as the gang is
   caught, Barney collapses and his head shrinks back to
   normal. He forgets the secret identities, and goes back to
