children experienced supernatural visions of the Virgin
Mary in the Portuguese countryside. Mary revealed three
secrets to the children in order to redeem humanity from
its sinful ways. On October 13th, tens of thousands
witnessed Mary's miracle of the dancing sun at high noon. A
year later, the two youngest children died, leaving Lúcia
Santos as the sole survivor of the miraculous visions. She
became a nun and disclosed the first two secrets to her
superiors at the Vatican. The third secret was written down
in the form of a letter and sealed for decades. Many

has yet to be completely revealed and fulfilled." -- Horror

Sticks and Stones / Peter Kuper. -- New York : Three Rivers
Press, 2004. -- 1 v. : all ill. (some col.) ; 21 cm. --
Summary (from OCLC): Vivid, expressive illustrations
chronicle the story of Rock Man's volcanic birth and his
efforts to lead a tribe of small rock people, despite the
opposition of Black Rock, a rock woman who opposes his
militaristic aggression against the neighboring Stick
Kingdom. In a barren landscape, an empire is about to rise
and an epic struggle is about to unfold. Sticks and Stones
illuminates this earth-shaking tale without a single word.
It is as elemental as hieroglyphics, a timeless story for
all ages. In Sticks and Stones, Peter Kuper has created a
picture story of epic proportions. It is an intricate tale
of birth and death, war and peace, artfully told without a
single word. Sticks and Stones chronicles the rise of an
empire and the consequences of hubris. This is a timeless
allegory and a cautionary tale for our present-day world.

Rouse is a US Army deserter who, after running away to
China, gets a job at Fengxian Amusement Park, a family
destination heavily inspired by Western culture, featuring
Rambi (the deer with a red headband), Ratman (the caped
crusader with a rat's tail), Bumbo (small ears, big
behind), and other original characters. The park's general
manager is convinced that Rick was destined to greet
Fengxian customers, dressed as none other than Ricky Rouse.
This original graphic novel is a relentless action comedy,
a satire of US-China relations, a parody of Western
entertainment and a curious look at China, a country that,
once we look past its often outrageous infringements, is a
culture ripe with innovation and a unique, courageous
spirit." -- Alternative genre. -- Call no.: PN6737.A35R5
