   Marietta, GA : Top Shelf Productions, 2019. -- 204 p. :
ill. ; 23 cm -- "Designed and lettered by Gilberto
Lazcano." -- Summary (from publisher): "A graphic memoir
   recounting actor/author/activist George Takei's childhood
imprisoned within American concentration camps during World
War II. Experience the forces that shaped an American icon,
and America itself, in this gripping tale of courage,
country, loyalty, and love. George Takei has captured
hearts and minds worldwide with his captivating stage
presence and outspoken commitment to equal rights. But long
before he braved new frontiers in Star Trek, he woke up as
a four-year-old boy to find his own birth country at war
with his father's and their entire family forced from their
home into an uncertain future. In 1942, at the order of
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, every person of Japanese
descent on the west coast was rounded up and shipped to one
of ten 'relocation centers', hundreds or thousands of miles
from home, where they would be held for years under armed
guard. They Called Us Enemy is Takei's firsthand account of
those years behind barbed wire, the joys and terrors of
growing up under legalized racism, his mother's hard
choices, his father's faith in democracy, and the way those
experiences planted the seeds for his astonishing future.

"Water Was My Enemy" / Joe Maneely, Joe Sinnott, art. 6 p.
in Tales of the Unexpected, no. 22 (Feb. 1958). -- Summary:
A "beachcombing vacationer" finds a strange bottle on the
shore. He opens it, and it seems only to contain stale air.
Then wherever he goes water starts to behave strangely. It
rains and he stays dry. Fountains and car radiators go
wild. People around him blame it on atomic bomb testing. He
finds he can't even get a drink. He goes back to the shore
to look for the bottle, and is able to walk right out into
the ocean with the water parting before him. There he finds
a stranded alien spaceship which can't function in water.
The bottle of water repellent was supposed to dry the ship
so it could take off, but the tides grabbed it before it
could do its work. The ship then takes off and sprays the
beachcomber with an antidote, which leaves him wet and
happy. -- Credits data from Michael Tiefenbacher. -- Call

   Jean-Eudes / Jean-Marc Pontier, Bernard Valgaeren. --
   Golfe-Juan : Les Enfants Rouges, 2013. -- 156 p. : ill. ;
24 cm. -- (Collection Isturiale) -- Summary (from publisher
