returns to save her and tend to her cuts, with his tongue!
It turns out Misao is the bride of prophecy, whose blood

has curly hair and is tough and full of mischief. Ricardo
Arcaraz (Ricardito) is a stuck-up rich boy with blonde hair
and glasses, the son of a diplomat. Guillermo Manquín
(Memín) is the only black boy in the class, and his
introduction brings derogatory racial remarks from the
other boys. Ernesto Vargas (Ernestillo) is very smart, but
poor, and comes to school without shoes. Carlos and Ricardo
get into a fistfight. Because of his attitude towards his
other classmates, the teacher recommends that Ricardo find
another school, and Memín cheers. The teacher gives Memín a
lecture about equal opportunity. On the way home from
school Memín makes friends with Carlos and Ernesto, and
warns Carlos that Ricardo's father is planning to complain
about the fight. At home, Memín helps his mother with
laundry, and Ernesto helps his father finish some
furniture. Carlos goes home, where his mother is sleeping
because she works the night shift. Ricardo goes home and
hears his mother threaten his classmates when she sees his
black eye, but Ricardo says he got it playing a game and
doesn't complain. Back at school, Ricardo is excluded from
the baseball game, and finally asks to play. Because he

-- ill. ; 19 cm. -- First published in Japan in 2007 by
Square Enix Co. -- "Just a stone's throw from London lies
the manor house of the illustrious Phantomhive earldom and
its master, one Ciel Phantomhive. Earl Phantomhive is a
giant in the world of commerce, Queen Victoria's faithful
servant, and a slip of a twelve-year-old boy. Fortunately,
his loyal butler, Sebastian, is ever at his side, ready to
carry out the young master's wishes. And whether Sebastian
is called to save a dinner party gone awry or probe the
dark secrets of London's underbelly, there apparently is
nothing Sebastian cannot do. In fact, one might even say
Sebastian is too good to be true, or at least, too good to

Black Canary and Zatanna : Bloodspell / Paul Dini, writer ;
Joe Quinones, artist ; Dave McCaig, colorist. -- New York :
   DC Comics, 2014. -- 1 v. : col. ill. ; 27 cm. -- Summary
(from publisher via OCLC): "Black Canary. Dinah Lance.
mistress of martial arts. Zatanna Zatara. mistress of
magic. Heroines, teammates, friends. Now, in this original
graphic novel, two of the DC Universe's brightest stars
join forces to combat a deadly new threat. a chilling
supernatural foe that preys on their weaknesses and
unleashes their awesome powers against each other. A year
ago, Black Canary infiltrated a gang of female criminals
set to pull a dangerous heist at a Las Vegas casino. Its
leader was skilled in hand-to-hand combat and with more
than a passing interest in the occult, specifically black
magic, one nasty customer. Rather than be taken by Canary
or the law, she went to her death, vowing she would get
revenge on Canary and her own former gang members. Now, a
year to the day later, death stalks those gang members, and
Canary must turn to her friend Zatanna to help
investigate." -- Superheroine genre. -- Call no.:

Megahex / Simon Hanselmann. -- Seattle, WA : Fantagraphics
   Books, 2014. -- 207 p. : col. ill. ; 23 cm. -- Summary
(from publisher via SkyRiver): "Megg is a depressed,
drug-addicted witch. Mogg is her black cat. Their friend,
Owl, is an anthropomorphized owl. They hang out a lot with
Werewolf Jones. This may sound like a pure stoner comedy,
but it transcends the genre: these characters struggle
unsuccessfully to come to grips with their depression, drug
use, sexuality, poverty, lack of work, lack of ambition,
and their complex feelings about each other." --
