"Stacey, a brilliant, overachieving astrobiology major at
Fenton College, had planned on just another lonely spring
break on campus. But when a hurricane batters the small
college town, downing power lines and knocking out cell
phone reception, Stacey and her friends are stranded with
no way to communicate with the outside world at the worst
possible moment: in the midst of an alien invasion. As
space insects begin to burrow into students and staff,
transforming them into slobbering, babbling monsters, a
conglomeration of misfits must band together to prevent the
   infestation from spreading. Meanwhile, Stacey's
long-stifled romantic feelings for her friend Charlotte
begin to surface, while the professor she had admired and

"An Author in Search of Six Characters" / by Milo Manara.
   p. 6-15 in Heavy Metal, v. 9, no. 3 (June 1985). --
Synopsis (from p. 4): "The curtain is up, and the actors
are in place, maybe. It all went askew from the start when
the director of a small, off-off-off Broadway play didn't
show up. Then the lead actress pulled the same. What we
ended up with is a sadomasochistic secretary directing, a
naive, simple seamstress as star, and a script that slips
in and out of reality indefinitely. There's this suitcase
filled with important plans that might save the world from
a fate worse than death, and a Rastifarian who initiates a
trip to deepest, darkest Zion to deliver the plans to their
rightful owner. The conclusion to this twisted tale appears
in this issue." -- Call no.: PN6728.H43v.9no.3
