Summary: A young journalist named Max, who bears a certain resemblance to Clark Kent, is bored with his job as a gossip columnist in some future version of an Earth city. He'd rather be on the streets than going to society balls, so when he gets a tip about a strange murder he stops by on the way to the Ventura party. We learn that the murdered man was a clone, and that he has been murdered for one of two "keys of Tetros," sought by increasingly rebellious mutants as important to their takeover of the earth. The leader of the mutant insurgency is named Ventura. The clone was a follower of the "Chosen One." Max doesn't learn much of this, however. His taxi waits while he looks over the scene, then takes him to the party. Meanwhile a mutant named Raven arrives at an orbiting prison, one of several devoted to the incarceration of criminal mutants. At the party, Max tries to interview Ventura himself and is thrown out for his trouble, and just at that moment another courier, with the other Key of Tetros, runs by, is killed, and hands the box off to Max. Running for his waiting taxi with mutants in hot pursuit, he discovers that his taxi driver is armed and very dangerous. She holds them off while he gets in, then they make a getaway. She seems to know what's in the package, and convinces him to leave it with her. Returning to his apartment, he finds a big tough woman waiting for him, who knows about the package, and the taxi driver, and tries first to seduce, then to beat the information out of him. Max holds them off, and escapes by diving down a long well into the sewer. Meanwhile in space, Raven has ripped his body open and taken out weapons to take over the orbital prisons. On Earth, Ventura knows this is happening, and goes with a task force to the taxi driver's apartment to get the Key to begin a coordinated attack. Ventura has perfected shape changing, and disguises himself as Max. Max is looking for the taxi driver, but emerges from the sewer in a mutant sector, where he is immediately in trouble. A green prostitute talks to him, and gets in trouble for talking to a human. Max sticks up for her, the police are called, and soon most everybody is dead. The prostitute leads Max to safety, and he gets to the taxi driver's apartment just as Ventura attacks her. They are unable to overpower Ventura, but they do escape him by jumping out a high window, with no apparent way of landing safely on the street below. The album thus ends in what would have to be called a "cliffhanger."

are either severely crippled or live only with
