Nosferatu

Nosferatu / Druillet, writer, artist ; Mike Richardson, Jean-Marc Lofficier, Randy Lofficier, editors ; Randy Lofficier, Jean-Marc Lofficier, translation. -- Milwaukie, Oregon : Dark Horse Comics, 1991. -- 60 p. : ill. ; 26 cm. -- Translated from the French. -- Includes a 5 page "preface" (at the end) about vampires by comics writer Rodolphe Jacquette. -- Science fiction genre. -- Call no.: PN6747.D7N613 1991

Summary: Nosferatu is a bored and starving vampire, the last of his kind. He lives in a decaying, post apocalyptic world. His only company is a mannekin named Lilit, and his only prey is various strange and dangerous races. He spends his time ruminating, and tries poetry (actually quoting Baudelaire). The poetry distracts him while a strange creature in a crown crawls up his chimney and bites Lilit's head off. Next a tiny creature finds Nosfertu and acts friendly, but he eats it. Nosferatu decides to do some traveling, and comes upon other vampires, who give him food, but live in fear of a monster. Nosferatu builds a machine to vanquish the monster, but it doesn't work and the other vampires are angry at him. Deciding to leave the planet, Nosferatu builds a starship and waits for lightning to power it, and that doesn't work either.
