"Endore" (The Mercenary) / V. Segrelles. p. 19-34 in Giants
/ V. Segrelles (New York : Nantier Beall Minoustchine,
1999). -- Summary: The Mercenary rescues a princess from
the witch Endore and her giants Roland, Arthur and
Lancelot. Endore has cursed the princess: at moonrise
she'll turn into the first being she touches. The Mercenary
kills Endore and assumes the curse will be cancelled. At
moonrise, though, the princess is mounting The Mercenary's
dragon and turns into a dragon herself. Rather than return
to the princess's father with the new dragon, The Mercenary
and the two dragons die temporarily and go to Hell. The
Mercenary takes a black globe on the verge of exploding
with him, and convinces Satan to make Endore reverse her
spell. She does, and the three are revived successfully.
The Mercenary leaves the globe behind in Hell. -- Call no.:

start to put up a building next door to his money bin. In
order to save Uncle Scrooge's money, Donald calls Huey,
Louie and Dewey to come help move the money to Scrooge's

money is safely moved away from the Beagle Boys, Uncle
Scrooge surrounds the reservoir with fences, booby traps
and land mines. Soon the Beagle Boys find him and devise a
plan to break the dam and flood the money out of the
reservoir. After they succeed, Uncle Scrooge convinces them

Summary: Europe has an oil crisis, of sorts.
Instead of a shortage, the gasoline supply has become more
volatile and cars are exploding without warning,
airlines are grounded, etc. The international situation looks
bad. Tintin gets a job as a radio man on a tanker, the "Speedol
Star," heading for Khemikhal in the Middle East, to
investigate. Thompson and Thomson are also aboard, dressed in
their idea of inconspicuousness, with sailor hats that say
"Titanic." Upon arrival, the Arab military police search the
ship and find heroin
in the Thom(p)sons' bags, and secret papers about gun running
in Tintin's cabin. The guns are supposed to be for Sheik Bab El
Ehr, who kidnaps Tintin to find out where the guns are. There
are no guns. The Sheik's rival, Emir Mohammed Ben Kalish Ezab,
releases Thomson and Thompson, and they set out across the
desert to catch the sheik and get a reward. The sheik and his
men use Tintin as a hostage, but abandon him in the desert when
he faints. That night Tintin sees a group of men blowing up an
oil pipeline, and following them discovers that one is Doctor
Müller (last seen in The Black Island). Tintin is
"rescued" by Thompson and Thomson, and goes to visit the Emir.
A Professor Smith, whom Tintin recognizes as Doctor Müller, has
been trying to get the Emir to sign a contract with Skoil
Petroleum after the current one with Arabex expires, which is
soon. Sheik Bab El Ehr and Skoil are trying to depose the Emir.
While the explanations are going on the Emir's six-year-old
spoiled and practical joking son Abdullah is kidnapped. A note
signed Bab El Ehr comes saying that the Emir must throw Arabex
out if he wishes to see his son again. The Emir sends out
troops, but Tintin doesn't think the shiek is the guilty party,
and asks for directions to Professor Smith's place. Near
Smith's palace Tintin comes upon the salesman Oliveira da
Figueira, last seen in Cigars of the Pharoah. Senhor
Oliveira sneaks Tintin into Smith's house. Hiding in a locked
room, Tintin is found by Smith/Müller who enters via a trap
door in the fireplace. They struggle in a cloud of sneezing
powder which Smith has confiscated from the boy Abdullah.
Tintin tries to rescue Abdullah, who is having too much fun to
want to leave. It is ultimately Captain Haddock who invades the
house and frees Tintin, but not before Smith has gotten away
with Abdullah. Haddock's presence is never explained, though
Tintin does ask what he's doing there. Smith leads the Emir's
horsemen, Thompson and Thomson, and Tintin and Haddock, in a
chase across the desert. Once cornered, Smith/Müller tries to
destroy a tube labelled "aspirin," which he calls Formula
Fourteen, but he has lost it. Thompson and Thomson find it and
each take one of the tablets. Their hair starts growing like mad. The
tablets are sent to Professor Calculus, who does an analysis
and concludes that Formula Fourteen is the stuff that has been
blowing up cars. In the process he blows up Marlinspike Hall.
Calculus sends antidotes to both the hair-growing and the
explosive properties of the substance. The international
tensions are reduced.
