"El Chisme" (Memín) / argumento de Yolanda Vargas Dulcé. 32
p. in Memín, no. 7 (1983). -- SUMMARY: Memín, Ricardito and
Carlangas find their friend in the carpentry shop, drinking
liquor. Ernestillo says that if his father can see his wife
and talk to her when he's drunk, he wants to do it too and
talk to his mother. When the boys take the bottle from him,
Ernestillo attacks with a hammer and manages to knock
himself out. His friends put him in his bed, and return to
school. The teacher wants to know what they found, and they
say Ernestillo wasn't home. The teacher doesn't believe
them, and questions them until he gets the truth. The
teacher rushes to the carpentry shop, sees Ernestillo
unconscious, and calls an ambulance. The boys wait at the
hospital while the teacher looks for Mr. Vargas, the
missing father of Ernestillo. The news that his son is in
the Red Cross hospital shocks Mr. Vargas, and hearing that
Ernestillo was trying to see his mother fills him with
shame. In the hospital, Ernestillo recovers. The teacher
brings Mr. Vargas to his son, and he begs his son's
forgiveness. -- Call no.: PN6790.M44M433no.7

Summary: Druuna wakes, disoriented, from a
frozen sleep, surrounded by wreckage and silence. Exploring,
she finds a city and an insectoid monster. She is rescued from
the monster by hooded men with guns, who speak an unknown
language and inspect her body carefully. The men tie Druuna up
and take her with them. It seems that their bodies are
controlled by crab-like
organisms. The men lock her in a cell and show her a video of
herself being sexually assaulted. According to the men, the
human species has disappeared, and they'd like to use her to
"renew the host biological apparatus." On the way to the Great
Mother for her conversion, the host body of her guide breaks
down and tries to warn her away. Druuna removes his hood and
mask and finds her old friend, Commander Will. She runs, but
there are crab things everywhere, and a mental force leads her
to the Great Mother anyway. She wakes, apparently from a
nightmare, but her new surroundings lead her to suspect that
the previous experience was real and that now she has been
drugged. She finds herself making love to Will, then suddenly
she's tied up and watching herself on a screen again. She sees
a crab thing take over her brain, then she gets untied by a
cuter, friendly robot crab thing. The crab joins its host body,
a robot, and leads Druuna to a kind of precarious safety. After
a sleep, the robot takes her to Shastar, whose consciousness is
in a machine. Shastar can communicate telepathically with
Druuna. Druuna then wakes up again, to find that she and
Shastar both have metal bodies.
