Fight Against Time

Fight Against Time. / by A. e L. Giussani ; by Fiocchi-Corbetta ; designs, Zaniboni-Cubbino ; Italian/English translation by Remo Di Pasquale & James Rocco Meranto. -- Las Vegas, NV : Scorpion Productions, 1999. -- 118 p. : ill. ; 18 cm. -- (Diabolik ; 2) -- Call no.: PN6768.D53D53no.2

Summary: Inspector Ginko's girlfriend Altea Vallenberg is kidnapped by drug dealer Melania Baxter, who wants revenge for the death of an old boyfriend. Diabolik and Eva had also been trying to snatch Altea to get information for a jewel theft, and soon Diabolik gets himself captured by the same gang. He overhears their plans to kill Altea, and using a wrist telephone (like Dick Tracy) he calls Eva, who rescues Altea. Both women end up stuck in a cave and are running out of air. Ginko figures out some of what is going on, but he gets captured as well, and is handcuffed to Diabolik. The two men escape still cuffed together, and succeed in a desperate dash to save the women they love. Then Eva drugs Ginko and Altea and gets the information they need for the big hit.

Kupperberg, writer ; Irv Novick, penciller ; Dave Hunt,
inker ; Gaspar Saladino, letterer ; Gene d'Angelo, colorist
; Julius Schwartz, editor. 16 p. in Superman, no. 406 (Apr.
1985) -- Summary (by Mary Walker): A wrestler dreams he
beats Superman in a bout to determine who could be called
Superman, a grudge match because Moe Ramboe had billed
himself as Superman in the ring before Superman came along.
Moe has a habit of having prophetic dreams, or affective
dreams. His brother, a hood who sees a way to profit from
this one, gathers together the heads of the Metropolis mobs
and introduces Moe as the man who can beat Superman. At the
same time Superman finds that his super-strength ebbs and
flows, sometimes present but at other times embarassingly
absent. Finally he has a compulsion to go to the arena
where Moe is waiting for the fight, which ends as he
dreamed it. Superman recovers for the rematch, finds that
both his strength and invulnerability have returned and Moe
is beaten. He tells Superman about the dreams. -- Call no.:
