Bonne Année

Bonne Année / Baru. -- Tournai : Casterman, 1998. -- 72 p. : ill. ; 30 cm. -- Call no.: PN6747.B34B6 1998
Summary: An incident on New Year's Eve 2000 has led to a civil war in France, and to the fortification of the city centers. By New Year's Eve 2014, a dictator has come to power, and things are tough for the have-nots outside the walls. The guards shoot to kill, AIDS is rampant, and there are no condoms to be had. Mo' and Sonia meet near the wall, where she thinks she has a way in. Her friend Jimmy is no longer there, however, and the new guards turn her away. They pretend to let Mo' in, but it's only a trick to steal his jacket. For consolation, Sonia shows him a handful of condoms she's gotten on other trips, and they run away hand in hand. At the bowling alley, Maggy gets tired of waiting for Mo', and leaves with the rest of the girls. Julien and Hocine decide to make a trip under the wall to buy condoms, using an old drug dealers' tunnel. Hocine's information is old, and the tunnel emerges in a house that is no longer empty. What's more, condoms can only be bought from machines using cards. The pharmacist wonders why they're not vaccinated, then takes all their money for one condom. The police haul them in, then kick them out of the city because it's New Year's Eve.

Bonnie & Claudia

Bonnie & Claudia / art & story by Fattori ; translated by Georgina Ranuzzi. -- San Francisco, CA : Last Gasp, 1998. -- 62 p. : col. ill. ; 30 cm. -- "Priaprism Press." -- An "adults only" erotic mystery comedy. -- Call no.: PN6767.F3B613 1998

Summary: Claudia has caught what appears to be a burglar and tied him up in what appears to be her closet. She shares him with Bonnie, then all three watch a soap opera until the women have to leave because it's not their apartment either. Bonnie and Claudia were there to photograph the plans of a building. Next day the same "burglar" visits Bonnie and Claudia saying he thinks they're not just burglars but something bigger, and he wants in on it. They decided to give him a try, first with leather and whips, then by having him steal the billfold of a man in the park. He helps them do so, so they can copy the man's magnetic key card and return it to him without his knowing it was gone. Soon, at night, Bonnie talks her way into a corporate building and entertains the night watchman while Claudia and their burglar penetrate the rest of security, open a safe, and get a will. Claudia, it turns out, thinks she should have inherited the place, but it was really left to her "slimy uncle." The uncle shows up just then with the Lon & Chaney Detective Agency. Claudia's accomplice turns out to be Chaney, of that agency. The man in the park with the magnetic key turns out to be the chief of security, and arrests Bonnie. Claudia tries to get the truth from her uncle about her mother's suspicious death. The detective Lon turns out to be Bonnie's father, and the slimeball uncle turns out to be Claudia's mom. They're living together. Mom buys Claudia off by offering her a producer's job where she'll be in complete control of her favorite soap opera. At the end Bonnie is being disciplined by the chief of security.
