"Les Frères Bishop" (Cap'tain Swing) p. 3-66 in Cap'tain
Swing, no. 122 (Mai 2004). -- Summary: Supplies are low at
Fort Ontario, so Swing, Mister Bluff and Hibou Lugubre head
for town to see their supplier, Judge Davenport. On the way
they find at least four freight wagons destroyed, and they
assume the wagons had contained food for the fort. Another
traveler passing by says it was done by the Bishop
brothers, who for some reason only attack shipments owned
by Davenport. While Swing talks to Judge Davenport, Bluff
and Hibou try to get food from Davenport's cook.
Unfortunately Bluff has brought his dog Pouik along. Pouik
chases a cat, trips the cook, and steals a sausage. The men
never get fed, which supplies a comedic subplot to the
story. A young woman named Judith Plummer is working for
Davenport, who says he took her in because the Bishop
brothers killed her mother. One of the Bishops, Andrew, is
captured, and both Swing and Judith seem to recognize him.
Swing realizes he owes the man for saving his life, though
he never knew his name. Judith, we discover, is in love
with Andrew and they were engaged to be married before her
mother died. Davenport sentences Andrew to die the next
morning, so Swing breaks him out of the lockup in the
night. This leads to the unraveling of Davenport's schemes.
Actually it was "Judge" Davenport who killed Mrs. Plummer
and the father of the Bishop boys. Davenport framed the
Bishops to get control of their freight business. Finally
Davenport sends a wagon full of English soldiers to Fort
Ontario to try to capture it. The Fort is warned on time,
but Davenport is shown to be a traitor as well as an
assassin and a thief. With Davenport dead and the English
routed, Andrew and Judith will marry and the transport
business will be back in the hands of the Bishop family. --

is a machine. Enter the world of Illal, a planet ravaged by
mech warfare and an expanding, viral mass known as The
Giga-Structure. Corporate warfare between the two largest
ruling powers, Sentium and Prosk, rages unchecked through
the streets and ruins of what was once a bustling,
promising corporate colony, vying for those precious
resources left under the ironclad quarantine of The Uta.
But things were not always this way---the ambitions of two
men, Rion Lazlo and James Hawken, came together with hopes
of building a better tomorrow, only to collide and collapse
into betrayal, leading to a sequence of events that would
bring the entire planet to its knees. Who would have
believed that the fate of millions would be written by just
one man? Hawken: Genesis tells the tale of those events
that formed the world inhabited by the free-to-play

Byun Byung Jun ; translation by Joe Johnson. -- New York :
NBM, 2007. -- 111 p. : col. ill. ; 23 cm. -- (ComicsLit) --
"Off the train in the middle of winter at the station in
Seoul, Bong-gu and his mother bring a little spring time
warmth to the capital. They're from a poor isolated area
but on the beautiful sea. She's looking for her kid's dad
who left without a trace. An old man meets the kid and
actually remembers seeing his dad. He manages to bring them
together. Dad had dreams coming from the country, hitting
the big city. They didn't quite work out. He had become too
ashamed to show himself again. From desperation, the
outcome of this story, however, will bring warmth to any
heart, showing that the hope and love of humanity can melt
the cold indifference of our urban societies." -- Call no.:

Sephie.
Going to Ground / Barbara Kesel, writer ; Dave Lanphear and
Troy Peteri, letterer. -- Traveler edition. --Oldsmar, Fla.
: CrossGeneration Comics, 2003. -- 1 v. : col. ill. ; 21
cm. -- (Meridian ; 2) -- "Originally published in single
magazine form as Meridian Vol. 1, Issues #8-#14." -- "The
fate of the world rests in the hands of a girl. Sephie's
tougher than she looks. The young Minister of Meridian, one
of the many islands floating among the clouds of Demetria,
took her father's place as ruler of their city-state upon
his sudden death. In the midst of that tragedy, a
mysterious force imprinted strange marks of power upon both
Sephie and her ambitious uncle Ilahn. Sephie's power is the
spark of life itself. Ilahn's delivers destruction. As
Ilahn sought control of Meridian, Sephie apparently fell to
her death from a floating skyship. With her gone, the way
seemed clear for Ilahn's conquest of Meridian. But Sephie
didn't die. From her bleak enslavement on the blighted
surface of Demetria, Sephie will find greater strength
within herself than she ever thought possible, and she will
gather an army to win back her home in the clouds." --

not defined by his villains so much as his loves. His major
love affairs, Elektra, Karen Page, Typhoid Mary, the Black
Widow, Milla Donovan, tend to end badly, often in murder,
insanity, and betrayal. They define periods of his life,
but they also define his character. After all, he became a
super-hero both to earn and to escape his father's love. In
