   Tommy to help him catch the Bad Buttes Gang, but just as
   the gang strikes Johnny gets a face injury and can't say
   his magic word to summon his thunderbolt helper. Tommy
   whistles and calls his friends, hundreds of wild horses,
   who surround the gang until the posse can get there. The
   reward money will take Tommy to a speech clinic, and

   great storm is brewing, and Sheriff Moore is looking for
   the Wilson brothers, who have broken out of jail. A farm
   near the Smoky's Flying-A ranch starts getting flooded, and
   Smoky's herd is going to be trapped in a box canyon, so
   Smoky and his nephew Ricky ride into the storm. Martha and
   Jim and little Mary lose their farm to the flood. All
   parties arrive for shelter at the Thomas cabin, where the
   escaped brothers are hiding out. With Champion's help the
   Sheriff apprehends the two brothers and they decide that

   Andy Panda and Charlie Chicken drive to Florida for a
   vacation where they come across a circus spending the
   Winter. While they are stopped to take in the action, a
   circus horse runs away with his rider clinging to its neck
   in panic. Andy and Charlie manage to stop the runaway
   horse, and in gratitude the rider offers to get them jobs
   with the circus. Unfortunately, Mr. Barker, the manager of
   the circus, doesn't want them around and tries to get rid
   of them. After Charlie lets a lion escape, Mr. Barker
   offers a reward of $1000 for the lion's return. Although
   Charlie and Andy capture the lion and Mr. Barker gives them
   the reward money, he has no intention of letting the boys
   keep the money. Mr. Barker uses every trick he can think of
   to steal back the money, but the guileless ways of Andy and
   Charlie baffle him. Finally, while en route to a
   performance, he throws the boys off the train. Andy and
   Charlie soon realize that they are back in their home town,
   and $1000 richer. All in all, a successful vacation. --

   Washboard has his lunch. A running gun battle goes by in
   the street, and Eight Ball catches it on Uncle Washboard's
   movie camera. The crooks are caught and Eight Ball gets a
   reward, which impresses Honesuckle Jones, and he invites

   "Patchou" (Histoires et Légendes de Magie et Sorcellerie) /
   J.C. Servais. p. 19-25 in Tintin, ann. 36, no. 318 (Oct. 9,
   1981). -- Summary: Patchou is a boy cowherd. One day a
   strange cow joins his herd, and he sees her as a potential
   source of income to improve the life of his widowed mother
   and himself. The cow won't go home with the rest of the
   village herd. Finally he ties it with a chain, but it drags
   him to a fairy grotto. The fairy says he is courageous,
   thanks him for pasturing her cow, and says if he brings an
   empty bag the next day she'll fill it with a reward. The
   bag is heavy after she fills it, and she tells him he must
   have patience and not open it until he gets all the way
   home. Here Patchou fails, and when he opens it a fortune in
   gold coins takes flight. He manages to catch a few. Series

   private detectives to return Barbara to her husband for a
   reward. The scheme almost works, but the police arrive just
   after they've killed the gang, so they don't get any money.
