Prodigal Son / created by Dean Koontz & Kevin J. Anderson ;
written by Chuck Dixon, pencils by Brett Booth ; colors by

Tortolini. -- New York : Del Rey/Ballantine Books, 2008. --
1 v. : col. ill. ; 27 cm. -- (Dean Koontz's Frankenstein ;
v. 1) -- Originally published in magazine form as Dean
Koontz's Frankenstein : Prodigal Son, vol. 1, #1-5. --
"Bonus: includes an original story by Dean Koontz." --
Summary (from OCLC): His name is Deucalion, a tattooed man
of mysterious origin, a sleight-of-reality artist who's
traveled the centuries with a secret worse than death. He
arrives as a serial killer stalks the streets, a killer who
carefully selects his victims for the humanity that is
missing in himself. Detective Carson O'Connor is cool,
cynical, and every bit as tough as she looks. Her partner
Michael Maddison would back her up all the way to Hell
itself, and that just may be where this case ends up. For
the no-nonsense O'Connor is suddenly talking about an
ages-old conspiracy, a near immortal race of beings, and
killers that are more, and less, than human. Soon it will
be clear that as crazy as she sounds, the truth is even
more ominous. For their quarry isn't merely a homicidal
maniac, but his deranged maker. -- Horror genre. -- Call

Pastor): Noda Megumi ("Nodame") is a piano prodigy who has
no discipline and prefers to play by ear. By chance, she
meets Shinichi Chiaki, the top student in the piano program
of a prestigious music college in Japan. Nodame is
immediately head over heels in love with Chiaki, but he
takes much longer to warm up to her unique personality and
quirks. The story follows both of their struggles to pursue
their musical ambitions and eventual success. This
multivolume manga series had been adapted into two
television series (a live action and an animated series),
as well as two live action movies and three video games.
The Nodame character is based on an actual person of the
same name. The main character is not shown with large eyes
and curvilinear figures that are more conventional features
of female characters in anime and manga. -- Romance genre.

classique." -- English summary (from p. 137): "Chris Ware's
Extraordinary Plan: Though still practically unknown in
France, Chris Ware, a young artist from Chicago, is fast
becoming idolized in the U.S. thanks to the 7 issues to
date of an amazing periodical he single-handedly
orchestrates: The Acme Novelty Library (published by
Fantagraphics Books). Chris Ware's work not only
demonstrates absolute mastery of graphism, typography and
the possibilities of digital technology, he also completely
recycles a specifically American cultural heritage,
mimicing or inventing emblematic characters such as
Superman, Big Tex or Quimby the Mouse, as Jean-Christophe
Menu shows. Yet, it is the pitiable character Jimmy
Corrigan who, represented at different ages, embodies the
most personal and touching part of his work. Ware proves
that extreme formalism does not obstruct emotion." -- Call
