Bande Dessinée, no. 3 (Jan. 1998).
-- English summary (from page
139): "From the Crimean War to the New Cold War. L'Histoire
de la Sainte Russie, released in 1854, was to be Gustave
Doré's last album. Basing his work on the writings of
historians of his time, he represents the Russians as a
cruel and bloodthirsty people and their history as a series
of massacres. While the album was being created, French
troops were engaged in battle against the Russian army in
the Crimea, but it was released just as peace negotiations
began. These circumstances explain its lack of success.
However, it is the only album of Doré's to have been
republished several times during the 20th century. David
Kunzle shows how this is related to Cold War ideology. --

sans prétention exhaustive apporte quelques réponses,
parfois surprenantes." -- English summary (from p. 150):

-- English summary (from p. 150): "Onward,

-- English summary (from p.
150): "Interview with Joe Sacco. The author of Palestine
and Gorazde is interviewed here by Jean-Pierre Mercier. He
explains the influence of the magazine 'Mad' on his work,
and talks about his methods of reporting, his use of
