"The Journey to Night" p. 12-19 -- Summary: A circus clown hides from a menacing shadow, in the human cannonball's cannon. The shadow fires the cannon, and the clown lands on a mountain peak next to Layla, the night. She gives him a star to take him home but promises he will see her every night.

"The First Star" p. 20-24 -- Summary: A woman tells her suitor that if he brings her a star she will be his. He tries reaching from his roof, but finally goes to a pair of master starcatchers for serious training. When he finally comes back to his lady love with a star, she has decided instead to go off with a sunsailer.

"Night and Day" p. 25-30 -- Summary: In a story without words, one day a man in a dark suit pays a gunman to end the day. Then in the night a man in a white suit arrives in a reversed-polarity drawing of the first page of the story.

"The Love of Luna" p. 31-38 -- Summary: A poet writes poems to the moon, and she likes it, but then death takes him and she is sad. Layla the night comes to Luna and offers a blanket of black that will allow Luna to retrieve her poet from the land of death. It works, and he becomes a star near the moon.

"The Moongazer" p. 40-42 -- Summary: An astronomer sees to his horror that the rope holding up the Moon is about to break. Despite his best efforts the Moon falls.

"And Eve Luna, Wakeful Outside" p. 43-46 -- Summary: A man gets lost in a supermarket, and meets a talking rat. The man thinks it's just a dream, but the rat says it's more complicated, it's superrealism. To get out, the rat tells him, he needs to think rationally.
