Lone Sloane : DeliriusLone Sloane : Delirius / painted by Philippe Druillet ; text (of "Delirius") by Lob ; lettered by Dominique Amat. -- 1st English ed. -- Paris : Dragon's Dream, 1973. -- ca. 150 p. : ill. ; 27 cm. -- Science fiction genre. -- Call no.: PN6747.D7L6 1973The first half of this book consists of the stories later published as The 6 Voyages of Lone Sloane, in a different translation. The story titles in this version are: "The Throne of the Black God" ; "The Wild Wind Isles" ; "Rose" ; "Torquedara Varenkor, the Bridge over the Stars" ; "O Sidarta" ; and "Earth." These stories also appeared in Cheval Noir (please scroll down for details). See also the French original Les 6 Voyages de Lone Sloane and the related story Chaos : Lone Sloane. The second half of this book, "Delirius," is a single story (70 pages). -- Summary: Lone Sloane is contacted by members of a religious order, the Red Redemption, who ask for his help with a robbery. The Red Redemption is from the "Planet of a Hundred Thousand Pleasures," Delirius, and their plan is to steal a month's taxes gathered there by Shaan, the Imperator. Sloane is interested because he has no use for Shaan, and decides to take a look. He is imprisoned upon arrival, and escapes, but ends up without money. He decides to try the heist, which it turns out the Red Redemption is using as part of an attempt to overthrow the planet's governor. The money container breaks open over crowds of people, and chaos overtakes the planet. Sloane flies through the money in a magnetized ship, attracts a coating of the metallic money, and gets away having struck a blow against the Imperator. This summary is from European Comics in English
Translation (Jefferson, NC : McFarland & Company, 2002).
