Summary: The story is set in 18th century
France, and the clothing, when it is worn, suggests the Three
Musketeers. In a doctor's deathbed confession, Madame de
Beaufleur is accused of murdering her father and husbands. She
takes refuge in the English embassy, where she earns her keep
with various partners to satisfy the voyeuristic interests of
the ambassador. She is soon convicted of murder in
absentia by a court, which means the embassy can no longer
protect her through diplomatic immunity. She flees to a convent
in southern France, where she has an affair with a lesbian nun.
She is tricked out of the convent and taken back to Paris to be
executed. Luckily the king takes a liking to her and she joins
the royal court.
