Summary: Kurt takes his friends Bill Milton and Attila the chimp to meet the archaeologist Professor Picket, who has found a 6th century Irish church near Merano (Italy), the former capital of Tirol. Picket's excavation is plagued with threats and sabotage, and now he's hearing voices. With Attila's help, they find a trap door under the altar that leads to an intact Roman Mithraeum, a mausoleum of Knights Templar, and an exit into a neighboring castle. A group of German tourists is having a tour of the castle, and our heroes board the tour bus for a ride back to town. The Germans are an occult society planning to be initiated into the mysteries of Mithras, the ancient Persian god. Attila has found a wooden statue in the Mithraeum, and inside it there's a cryptic message. It turns out that Kurt's old nemesis, Fifi la Rouge, is planning to initiate the Germans in her role as Madame Isis. They meet a man named Malice who helps explain the religious aspects of the situation. At a wine cellar they find another similar statue. Fifi's seance for the Germans, in which she plans to raise Osiris from the dead, does not go as planned. After a certain amount of comedy, Kurt Dunder pops out of the sarcofagus and is accepted as Osiris by the occult society. In the process Kurt finds another statue with a message in it, and seems to have Fifi falling in love with him. After a fourth statue is found inside an old tree, a look at a map predicts the location of a fifth, and the suggestion that finding it will complete the directions to the treasure of the Knights Templar. The players converge on the spot, and find a dramatic cavern. They learn that the Templars had letters of Paul before he converted to Christianity; also that they should go to Moab in Palestine. Malice turns up and tries to sabotage them by locking them in the cavern, but they get away. With Fifi as an apparent ally, they head for Damascus.
