Baisers de New York (éd. Flammarion, 2003), bel album
superbement imprimé sur un papier qui rend justice au

given the prestigious New Yorker from 1993 on, Bons Baisers

Summary: Two Egyptologists, Champollion and Zamelek, conspire in Cairo to have the mummy of Ramses II declared unfit for travel, so as to deny its exhibition in the United States by the Morgan Foundation. American and British Egyptologists are outraged. Meanwhile Champollion is working with an unscrupulous collector named Fustakis, who is looting a newly-discovered tomb in upper Egypt. Fustakis has made an enemy of a powerful Persian princess. Fustakis is killed, and Champollion disappears leaving a document connecting him with Fustakis. The Specialist, who is working for a bodyguard service, and his friend Goldsmith, who was guarding Champollion when he disappeared, are given a few days off, and take a cruise on the Nile. The police learn that Champollion has been kidnapped and is on a boat sailing up the Nile; he is retrieved but taken again in an ambush on the way to the airport. Champollion is located in a house in Dendera, and Goldsmith and the Specialist take part in the raid that rescues him, from people who are probably supposed to be Iranian terrorists. Champollion makes a speech condemning the violation of the new tomb by "rogue collectors," and proposes to name the tomb after Fustakis.
