"The Fog Cutter" 15 p. in Carapaces / Luc & François Schuiten
(Hollywood, CA : Humanoids Publishing, 2001). -- Summary:
It is the fog cutter's duty to remove solidified fog, and
to release people who chance to leave their windows open
when the fog solidifies. The village cutter is also a
sculptor, and is obsessed with the body of a woman named
Ursuline. He is always peering at her through his telescope
as he makes a statue of her, and she is not sympathetic to
his attention. During a surprise solidification he manages
to get her stuck in the fog, and to remove the fog in such
a way as to create a mold of her body. Abandoning the
earlier carving, he casts statues of her to the exclusion
of his other duties. -- Call no.: PN6747.S353C313 2001
