inker ; Ben Oda, letterer ; D'Angelo, colorist ; Julius
Schwartz, editor. 16 p. in Superman, no. 405 (Mar. 1985).
-- Summary (by Mary Walker): Lana Lang reports on
mysterious sightings of a 'super-Batman'. Kent calls Bruce
Wayne and leaves a message with Alfred that he has a good
reason for what he is doing and will explain later. He
recalls how Lana had some Pan-pipes which her father found
with a statue of the god and how he experienced an
excruciating pain when she blew on them. Later he looks in
the mirror and finds he has grown horns. He realizes that
the syrinx, or pipes, may be the cure but he has to find
them because they have been stolen. To hide what has
happened he adopts Batman's cowl and cape in place of his
own cape. He uses the horns to capture the superstitious
thief before the spell dissipates taking the horns with
them. He tells Bruce about the episode and asks, "How do
you ever manage to scare anyone in that get-up of yours?"

Summary: Tintin, Snowy, Captain Haddock,
Professor Calculus and engineer Frank Wolff recover from the
initial acceleration of their moon rocket to discover Thompson
and Thomson as accidental stowaways. This will seriously strain
the oxygen supply and shorten their stay. One of the detectives
stops the engine accidentally, and they experience
weightlessness. Haddock, who has been getting drunk, gets
disgusted and tries to walk home. Tintin does a spacewalk and
saves him. Then the Thom(p)sons' hair starts to grow like crazy
in a relapse of the condition they contracted by swallowing
Formula Fourteen in Land of Black Gold. Despite these
vicissitudes, the rocket continues to the Moon and is monitored
by the Syldavian space center and by the foreign conspirators
who tried to steal the test rocket in Destination
Moon. Tintin has the honor of making the first footprints
on the Moon. They explore for a few days, finding a cave with
stalagmites, stalactites, and ice. Just as the oxygen supply is
getting low they and they have to call in their roving vehicle
and leave, Colonel Jorgen comes out of hiding in the hold and
tries to take over the ship. Jorgen was last seen in King
Ottokar's Sceptre, when he was plotting against the King
of Syldavia. In this case the engineer Wolff is responsible for
his presence. They all manage to leave the Moon together, and
on the way home Jorgen is accidentally shot by Wolff, thus
saving some oxygen. Later Wolff jumps out of the rocket in
shame. The rocket arrives back in Syldavia on autopilot with
everybody unconscious, but all are revived safely.
