Abominations / written and illustrated by Hermann Huppen ; translation edited by Bernd Metz. -- New York : Catalan Communications, 1990. -- 48 p. : col. ill. ; 28 cm. -- Horror genre. -- Call no.: PN6747.H43A4 1990

"Massacre" p. 5-14 -- Summary: A man returns home to find his girlfriend, his cat and other people in the house killed, with the word "pigs" written in blood on the wall. The police say it's the seventh case like it they've seen without clues, and that they're bound to make a mistake sometime. The police seal the house, and give him his dog that somehow survived. They didn't have a dog. The man lets the dog go and follows it to a remote shack, where he kills the whole group of murderers.

"Flight" p. 15-19 -- Summary: A skinny woman is running from big hairy monsters. She trips, and they spear her through the chest, rape her, and take her home to cook. She wakes up relieved that it's a nightmare. Well, most of it. We see a big hairy hand at the bedroom door.

"The Cage" p. 20-34 -- Summary: Urban survivors after a neutron bomb strike have a system of subsistance based on a rooftop garden, and a system of security from outsiders based on a cage that hangs by their only door. Each night one of their number stays awake in the cage to sound a warning if anyone tries to attack. A new arrival spends the night in the cage and provisionally gains their trust. A few days later it is the turn of a mute woman to be in the cage for the night. She hasn't spoken since her husband was killed by the outsiders years ago, but she sees their newcomer doing something suspicious and is ready for him. During the night he gives the signal to his cronies below, and she stabs him dead and sounds the alarm.

"Vengeance" p. 35-48 -- Summary: An old foreign man drives a tourists around in a buggy, dresses too warmly, smells bad, and keeps to himself. In the bar at night he swats bugs, and people don't like him much. An old acquaintance comes to see him, and we learn that the two had robbed gold and jewels from a cursed grave five years before. Skeletal avengers are after them, and will only be satisfied by the return of the treasure. This is accomplished, and the avengers leave, but the curse remains. The curse is that their bodies will be covered with hair and vermin, and we see the old man in the bar again and realize that he is unusually hirsute under his overcoat, and that the bugs he swats are crawling out of his clothes.
