Somehow, we have stolen the British experience of a dawn slaughter on a beach further south, under Turkish guns. The Australian landing on Z Beach, our allotted coast, was tactically brilliant. ANZAC officers planned their own amphibious assault without the interference of British officers, who were content to row ashore in daylight against a prepared enemy. Z Beach True Comics presents the facts. Gallipoli: the landing is a non-fiction account of how ANZAC officers used all available intelligence to plan a surprise night assault using stealth on ANZAC Cove. This graphic narrative follows the roles of espionage, spying, and the use of aerial reconnaissance which provided ANZAC officers with the military intelligence to plan an effective assault despite a heavily defended coast. -- Historical genre. -- Call no.: PN6790.A84Z2no.1 ----------------------------------------------------- Z Beach True Comics ; 2 Kokoda : That Bloody Track / Hugh Dolan, David Howell, Tea Seroya. -- St. Kilda, Vic. : Z Beach True Comics, 2012. -- 47 p. : col. ill. ; 30 cm. -- (Z Beach True Comics ; 2) -- "Written by Hugh Dolan and David Howell ; illustrated by Tea." -- "This is a factual "comic" telling the story of Kokoda using graphic art. Z is for ZorglubZ is for Zorglub / Franquín, Jidéhem, Greg ; translated by Kim Thompson. -- Fantasy Flight Publishing, 1995. -- 63 p. : col. ill. ; 29 cm. -- (The Adventures of Spirou & Fantasio) -- Translation of: Z comme Zorglub. -- Call no.: PN6747.F67 A38 1995Summary: Fantasio gets a hairdryer from a fan, and when he tries it it knocks him out and he awakes in a kind of trance. He wakes up from the trance riding in a driverless car. A voice in the car tells him that it is being driven by Zorglub, who wants to talk about his friend, Ambrose de Champignac, a scientist and fungus collector. Zorglub loses control of the car and Fantasio wakes up next in the hospital. Leaving the hospital with Fantasio, this time it's Spirou who falls into the trance and is taken to talk with Zorglub, while Fantasio alerts Champignac by telephone. Champignac says not to worry, Zorglub won't hurt Spirou, and indeed Spirou soon returns with a message about joining the Zorgmen, though he doesn't know what it means. Soon Champignac is visited by Zorglub in person. They are old college friends, and Zorglub wants Champignac to join him in taking over the universe. Champignac throws him out, but Zorglub returns with an ultimatum: join him or at 4 pm tomorrow "witness the full, unfettered might of Zorglub!" After analysis of the hairdyer, Champignac creates three little machines that will negate Zorglub's mind-control, keeps one, and gives one each to Spirou and Fantasio. The next day at 4 pm nothing happens right away, but then a mob arrives at Champignac's castle to destroy his mushrooms. Zorglub has broadcast mind control in the static of a major sporting event on the radio. Champignac puts the mob to sleep with gas. Zorglub, on the scene to gloat, instead kidnaps Fantasio and takes him away to be mindwiped and join the Zorgmen. Spirou and Champignac figure out where the secret city of Zorgland is, and arrive with Spip the squirrel and the Marsupilami to rescue him. As usual, Zorglub's command of his technology is incomplete, and soon with the help of Fantasio, who was only pretending to be a Zorgman, they have subdued the evil genius. Champignac drugs Zorglub so that he will fix all the bad things he's done, including making zombie Zorgmen out of thousands of policeman all around the world. Zorglub gets permission to launch one last project, however, and sends dozens of missiles to the moon where they spell out in giant letters: Coca Cola. Unfortunately he miscalculated, and it's backwards. This summary is from European Comics in English
Translation (Jefferson, NC : McFarland & Company, 2002).
