Summary: Juda has three sons, and finds Thamara to be an attractive bride for his oldest son, Er. Completing the bargain with her father, he presents Thamara to Er. The responsibility of making children is too much for Er, who is a bit wild, and he soon dies. Juda then gives her to his second son, Onan, who is too self-involved to advance the project. The third son is a little young for it, so Juda sends Thamara back to live with her drunken father and wait a few years. Thamara gets impatient, covers her face, and seduces Juda to get children.
