"Ticket of Terror" (Doll Man) / Frank Bolle, art? 7 p. in
Doll Man, no. 39 (Apr. 1952). -- Villain The Adder is
introduced. -- Begins: "The only clue was a bloodstained
pawnbroker's ticket! The Doll Man and Doll Girl followed
that clue into a net of mystery, where death flashed from
the darkness and only the hissing laughter of The Adder
told whence doom came! Can the world's mightiest mites
uncover the peril-shrouded puzzle behind the Ticket of
Terror!" -- Summary: A man comes to a pawnshop in the
"theatrical district" to retrieve a "theatrical trunk" that
he left nearly two years ago. The pawnbroker has sold it
already, and so is murdered by the man. Doll Man and Doll
Girl arrive, and the man calls himself The Adder, as he
escapes using acrobatic and knife-throwing skills. The
Adder finds the trunk in a junkyard, and the junk dealer
recognizes him as a former vaudeville performer with a
knife act. The Adder had been a robber, and was hiding
because of a murder accusation, but his loot was sewn into
the lining of the trunk. He manages to catch Doll Man and
Doll Girl when they arrive in pursuit. He puts them in the
trunk, and sinks them over the side of a motorboat. Our
heroes escape ("Houdini himself couldn't have done it
better"), and arrest The Adder, who later dies in the
electric chair according to a newspaper headline shown in
the final panel. -- Superhero genre. -- Data from Lou

Terror Aboard the Karima

Terror Aboard the Karima / by A. e L. Summary: Diabolik and Eva Kant book cabins aboard the South Seas cruise ship Karima. The Plan is to switch carefully researched and crafted fake jewelry they're carrying, for the originals that rich fellow passengers will be keeping in their cabin safes. One of the passengers is Sheik Adjin, with his veiled wife and hooded bodyguards. Another couple, Rodolfo and Renata Norman, are from Clerville, which Eva and Diabolik also call home. The ship is boarded by pirates, who steal everybody's jewels (including the fakes) and blow up the ship, expecting everyone to be killed. Quick thinking by Diabolik saves everyone. In two days Inspector Ginko is on the job, hoping to catch both the pirates and Diabolik. Eva figures out that the Normans were accomplices of the pirates, and Eva and Diabolik use this knowledge to steal the jewels from Yang, the head pirate. Ginko figures out which passengers they've been using as disguises, but they get past him using the veil and hood of Sheik Adjin's wife and bodyguard.
