Summary: The Riege Master guards an area of
crumbling and overgrown ruins, into which Roxanna, Bragon the
Knight, and their mysterious and bumbling helper must pass in
order to get to the tower of the Time Bird. When he hears of a
man coming, holding an axe identical to his, the Riege Master
knows that it is Bragon and prepares for battle. When Bragon
announces his noble mission, the Riege Master responds by
announcing his intent to hunt Bragon down. One of the Riege
Master's underlings knocks Roxanna unconscious and tries to eat
her furry, but Bulrog unexpectedly steps in and saves them.
Bulrog disappears, but later in the night brings them food and
fights for them again. The Riege Master attacks but ends up
cornered without his axe by an Ocker. Bragon throws him the axe
as a point of honor, so he won't be killed by the beast. The
next morning the Riege Master gets close enough to kill them,
but purposely misses with his spear. Fol, the mad master of the
river, pops up with another riddle. Fol feels disrespected by
their response to him, and causes the river to wash them up on
the Riege Master's home turf. The Riege Master ties Roxanna to
a wall and challenges Bragon, revealing that he was Bragon's
teacher. They fight, and Bragon wins, which was really all that
the Riege Master was hoping for, since he was getting old and
wanted to go out in a fair fight. There are only three more
days to get the Time Bird and save the planet from the evil god
Ramor.
