l'Ouest / textes et dessins de Morris, in Lucky Luke :
   Spécial 2 (Marcinelle-Charleroi, Belgique : Dupuis, 1980).
-- Summary: Near the town of Nugget Gulch, Lucky Luke meets
a bearded man who calls himself John the Philanthropist.
John says he's a peaceful man, and that the notches on his
revolver aren't his, because he just found it and doesn't
really use it well. When a cobra comes from behind a rock
and John draws and kills it in one swift motion, Lucky Luke
has to wonder about his story. In Nugget Gulch a horse race
is planned for the next day. Since John and Lucky Luke are
both low on money, they both decide to enter. John has seen
Jolly Jumper run, and knows he can't beat such a horse, but
he enters the race anywhow. Betting is heavy on the race,
and a series of colorful charcters are entered, including a
Mexican rider named "Pedro Nice Chink" riding a mule named
"Flower of the Orient," and a overweight man called "Texas
Slim." When Lucky Luke goes to get Jolly Jumper for the
race, he finds the horse missing. The race starts without
Lucky Luke. John the Philanthropist's horse is black, until
a rain shower washes the stain off and the stolen Jolly
Jumper is revealed. Lucky Luke whistles, and Jolly Jumper
dumps John into a rain barrel. Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper
are win the race together, inspired by an electric shock
after a collision with a telegraph pole. John steals all
the money and runs for it on his own horse. Lucky Luke
telegraphs ahead to Rattlesnake Valley, and has "poison"
signs put on all the water holes in the desert. John is
soon crazy with thirst and easily caught. Lucky Luke has
him shaved and he turns out to be the wanted outlaw Joe
   La-Gâchette. -- Call no.: PN6747.M64L804 1980

"La Poudre aux Yeux" (Giddap Joe) p. 99-130 in Cap'tain
Swing, no. 113 (Août 2003). -- Summary: Giddap Joe rides
into Axonville, and the town appears deserted. The men of
the town are waiting in ambush, however, and Giddap soon
has a noose around his neck and is headed for a lynching.
Then a little girl, Julie Copping, cries out that Joe is
her friend, and the townspeople relent. They had thought
that Joe was part of a gang chasing Jim and Rose Copping,
Julie's parents. Julie gives Joe the map to her father's
gold strike. Joe decides he'd better go help his old friend
Jim, so he thanks the townspeople for the loan of the
necktie, takes it off, and prepares to leave. Before he can
start, Lou Marks knocks him down and steals the map. In
flashback, we learn that after Copping found the gold, the
crooked sheriff of the town of Garriot has tried to steal
his claim. Copping had shot "sheriff" Kaye in the arm, and
Copping had spent three years in jail for it. Upon his
release, Kaye was waiting with to cronies to continue the
pursuit of Copping's gold. In the present, Loe Marks
volunteers to join Giddap Joe as he rides out to find the
Coppings. Marks is sure that Joe didn't see him when he
stole the map. In the mountains, Rose Copping's horse is
frightened by a rattlesnake, and she falls to the ground
and is threatened by the snake. She wants Jim to shoot the
snake, but he is sure that the sound of the shot would
bring Kaye and his men straight to them. He lassos the
snake neatly around its "neck" and throws it aside. Rose's
horse's leg is broken, and Jim won't shoot it for the same
reason, but Rose shoots it out of compassion. Sure enough,
the couple is captured in a trice and threats to Rose soon
elicit another map from Jim. At the entry to the cave where
the gold is, Kaye stops and sends one of his men in to
check the truth of Copping's story. The man doesn't come
out, so Kaye sends another man in. Giddap Joe and Lou Marks
(Lou having had a change of heart) were waiting inside the
cave and have overpowered the two men. Joe then steps out
of the cave and arrests Kaye. -- Call no.:

An all-new adventure revisiting Edward Scissorhands' two
decades after the end of the fan-favorite movie! In a
castle just outside a sleepy suburban town, a brilliant
inventor created Edward Scissorhands but left him
tragically unfinished. Two generations of exile have left
Edward digging through abandoned experiments, but once he
wakes up a creature left buried, he discovers he isn't the
only one missing a vital piece. As Edward tries to fix a
grave mistake, he comes face-to-face with a teenage girl
who was sure he was only myth despite the stories her
grandmother told her about the man she could never touch.
