Julius : Let Slip the Dogs of War / written by Antony
Johnston ; illustrated & lettered by Brett Weldele. --
   Portland, OR : Oni Press, 2004. -- 156 p. : ill. ; 21 cm.
-- "The East End is barely part of London anymore.
Isolationist gangs have violently ripped the neighborhood
from its place in society, creating their own insular
world. Now, after a bloody year of turf wars, the East
End's ruling families return home victorious to resume
their reign. And risen above them all is one man: Julius.
Unlike the crime lords who came before him, Julius rules
   the streets with a just and fair law. The people love him;
the other families fear him and his power. Now they are
considering what once would have been unthinkable: complete
dissolution of the families' organizations in favor of a
single leader. But not everyone is ready for this new world
order. As the ides of March draw near, even some of his top
lieutenants question Julius' growing power. Antony Johnston
and Brett Weldele recreate Shakespeare's classic political
thriller with a hard modern edge, bringing new relevance
and poignancy to Julius Caesar." -- Alternative genre. --

is certain of what he's not: he's not one of those
dead-beat dads. He's a thoroughly modern, involved father.
He'd give up anything for his daughter and to prove it,
he's already sacrificed his career, his pride, and various
portions of his sanity. But despite his deep love for his
family, Simon is still human. Sometimes, despite the best
of intentions, he still finds himself floating in the inky
blackness of his own head. The conflict between his own
goals and aspirations and the needs of his little girl
sometimes leaves him lost and confused. Lucky for Simon,

Scandalous / written by J. Torres ; illustrated by Scott
Chantler ; book design and cover by Keith Wood ; edited by
Jamie S. Rich ; afterword by Ande Parks. -- Portland, OR :
   Oni Press, 2004. -- 1 v. : ill. ; 21 cm. -- "Hollywood in
the 1950s is a place of big glamour, small talk, and medium
cool. The studios control everything, managing their
actors' careers and massaging the image they present to the
public. To do this, they need the press onboard to help
wrangle the one aspect they can't control, gossip. This
means the most powerful woman in Hollywood is Paige Turner,
the celebrity columnist for one of America's most-read
papers. Know for her outrageous headgear, Paige is often
called The Mad Hatter, a nickname with a double meaning,
since everyone wants to be invited to her publicity party.
When a more salacious tabloid mentality creeps onto the
newsstands, though, Paige sees some of her ground being
threatened. And the studios see a roguish new element that
might not want to play ball. At the top of this saucy new
art form is Harry Richards, The Tabloid Dick, the guy with
the snooping peepers who keeps getting the scoop. What
begins as a war of words ends up being a knock-down,
drag-out fight for the number one slot as the biggest rumor
monger in entertainment." -- Call no.: PN6733.C465S35 2004

Lazet): "A Lethargic Tale of Slumbering Horror and the
Snoozing Sleepers of a Drowsy Island." A banging on the
door brings Popeye running: King Blozo needs his help. The
inhabitants of Spinachova, King Blozo's land, have fallen
asleep and no one can wake them. The King convinces Popeye,
Olive Oyl, Wimpy and Swee'pea to come to his country to
rouse his sleeping people. Unbeknownst to them, the almost
forgotten original people of the island of Spinachova, the
Big-Eared Pygmies, have hatched a nefarious scheme. By
crossing onions with huckleberries, they have developed
"rocakabye berries," which induce sleep. Popeye, the King,
and Olive Oyl pretend to be asleep and are taken by the
Pygmies. Olive convinces their leader to tell her why he
has committed these dastardly deeds. The Pygmies don't like
spinach, so they have captured King Blozo's subjects to
plant the farms with carrots instead. In return for
planting some carrots in addition to spinach the Pygmies
agree to let their victims go, but it is up to Popeye and
Olive to awaken everyone by tickling their feet with a
special feather. -- Call no.: PN6728.1.D4P57no.10

save Uncle Scrooge's money, Donald calls Huey, Louie and
Dewey to come help move the money to Scrooge's newly

safely moved away from the Beagle Boys, Uncle Scrooge
surrounds the reservoir with fences, booby traps and land
