Summary: Aunt Sidonia returns from a trip to Scotland with a photograph of the Loch Ness monster. Ambrose doesn't believe it, so Suzy, Spike and Ambrose decide to take an investigative camping trip to Loch Ness. The first night Suzy can't sleep, so she rows out into the fog and meets Nessie, who retrieves Suzy's doll Muffin when it falls into the loch. Nobody believes Suzy the next day. They meet a trigger-happy hunter, determined to shoot the monster, who kidnaps Spike to keep him out of the way. They meet a giant who lives in a ruined castle, who locks Suzy in his tower to keep her out of the way. The hunter shoots a decoy put out by a scientific expedition. Suzy and Spike discover that the giant is keeping one monster prisoner in a cave, while the other is in the loch. They reunite the two using gunpowder. The giant is angry, since keeping the monsters apart is his clan's ancestral vow, but Jethro flies in and beats him in a test of strength. Humiliated, the giant agrees to let the monsters be together, and to continue keeping them secret.
