   Summary: Edouard Laviere lives in Louisiana, and is a
   victim of infantile paralysis (polio) who uses a wheelchair
   and crutches. Ed's upper body is very strong, and he's good
   at swimming and rowing, so he has explored the bayous by
   himself. A gang of thieves has been escaping into the
   bayous where nobody can follow them, but Ed knows the area
   well enough to lead Hawkman to their hideout. Hawkman fakes
   weakness in the fight with the robbers, to inspire Ed to
   swim a mile in a hurry to get help. Ed's a hero at the end,
   and the mayor gives him a job as a swimming instructor. --
