The Book of Jack

The Book of Jack / art by Olivier G. Boiscommun ; story by Denis-Pierre Filippi ; translation by Marelle Piche & Justin Kelly ; graphic design, Didier Gonord ; lettering, Kitof. -- Los Angeles, CA: Humanoids Publishing, 2000. -- 48 p. : col. ill. ; 33 cm. -- Translation of: Le Livre de Jack. -- Fantasy genre. -- Call no.: PN6747.B578L513 2000

Summary: Jack goes into a spooky abandoned house as an initiation into a kid gang, and as proof brings out a book. It develops that the story of Jack's life is being recorded in the book as he lives it: Words magically appear on the next blank page. Sam, the only girl in the gang and the only one who can read, figures this out. Stan, the gang's leader, gets jealous when he sees Sam and Jack getting close. He steals the book and has someone write in it that Jack becomes a monster. Jack becomes a werewolf, but Sam remains friendly, and they find the writer and reverse the process. The album ends as Sam and Jack approach the spooky house intending to return the book.
