Abstract: Chilean Alejandro Jodorowsky is a multifaceted
creator. Interested in all art forms, he started his career
as an actor and playwright in Chile, Paris and Mexico, and
has had considerable success in comics, literature and
movies, not to mention the magic and occultism which he
also practices. In the following pages we will get to know
him better as a person and a filmmaker, leaving the

from Chile, who studied in Mexico, and a result of the
great success of his comics sagas all over the world: in

States of America. If you're fond of fantasy, science

Manuel Barrero. p. 93-104 in Revista Latinoamericana de
   Estudios sobre la Historieta, v. 2, no. 6 (Junio 2002). --
llave: Salinas, Hora Cero, Oesterheld, Mixerix, Breccia,
-- Summary: It's been said
that the comic for mature audiences was born in Europe: in
France, the UK, Italy- but we think that the comic books
and the authors in the forties and fifties in Latin
American countries were a very important part of this
history. And, perhaps, the Argentine series, creations,
storytelling innovations and improvements were the key:
Salinas, Hora Cero, Oesterheld, Misterix, Breccia, Humor
Registrado, Solano López, LD. Despite all this creativity,
Argentina has had (and still has) a difficult political
history, and because of that many of the best comic writers
and artists had to emigrate. Here is a reflection on them.
