- "Ein Männlein sägt im Walde" p. 3-4 --
Summary: The masked chainsaw murderer accidentally
injures himself badly by slipping on a banana while trying to
kill a "romantic" couple. Combined with ironic advice on how
to use a chainsaw correctly.
- "Immer an der Wand lang" p. 5-7 --
Summary: A masked murderer with a knife is
interrupted several times in the attempt to murder his
victim, a showering woman. He ends up hurting himself and
being beaten up by three fascist policemen who mistake him
for a political protester.
- "Die Axt im Haupt" p. 8-9 -- Summary:
The masked murderer chooses a Mafiosi gangster as victim for
his axe attack, but gets interrupted by the gangster's
brother. While fleeing he hides in a trash can,
congratulating himself for his cleverness in escaping, when
the trash collector arrives.
- "Rambozambo!" p. 10-11 -- Summary:
Searching the Spring forests for a new victim for his
chainsaw attack, the masked murderer finds only a lot of fake
paper-doll Chinese guys and gets in the way of Rambo running
amok.
- "Im Frühtau!" p. 12-13 -- Summary:
Exhausted by the heavy power pack for his chainsaw the masked
murderer fails to outrun his victims and turns into a victim
himself for some male nurses of a hospital in search of new
patients (reference to the "Schwarzwaldklinik"-hospital
TV-series).
- "Wer anderen an die Rübe sägt" p. 14-17 --
Summary: The chainsaw murderer erroneously
beheads Count Dracula instead of Van Helsing who mistakes him
for a fellow vampire hunter. While trying to correct his
error, Dracula recovers, the house gets destroyed by a
wrecking ball, and Ronald Reagan and Sylvester Stallone
appear.
- "Auf der Mauer auf der Lauer!" p. 18 --
Summary: Lost in the woods the chainsaw
murderer is under attack when he discovers a clearing. While
he fears it is Rambo again, it turns out that it is the
German police defending a nuclear reprocessing plant
(probably Wackersdorf) and thinking of him as a political
protester trying to invade the plant.
- "Das Malteser Brathuhn" p. 19-20 --
Summary: In a parody of Hammett's Maltese
Falcon a detective ignores all signs of the chainsaw murderer
and focuses on a grilled chicken (Brathuhn) which he thinks
of as being central to the case, and ends up in a
nuthouse.
- "Über den Wipfeln geht's zu" p. 21-22 --
Summary: The intergalactic conquerer Pling
the Merciless (a persiflage of Flash Gordon's Ming) lands on
Earth but while his former opponents are all engaged in
erotic actions he is himself confronted with the violence of
the chainsaw murderer and an atomic conflict. Thus he decides
to leave Earth's destruction to Earth itself.
- "Die City-Blindschleiche" p. 23-24 --
Summary: The cries of a woman alarm an
unnamed hero (a clear persiflage on Stallone in Cobra) who
kills everything but the chainsaw murderer. In the end the
murderer stops the "hero" from killing more racially
different or socially disadvantaged groups and gets the girl
- traumatizing him for not being able to be worse than the
good guy.
- "Alle Mörder sind schon da" p. 25 --
Summary: When an argument between the
chainsaw murderer and Jack the Ripper about a victim alarms a
gun carrying peasant, they both hide in a cesspit.
- "Beim Bund ist's gesund!" p. 26-28 --
Summary: In a critical parody Atzenhofer
confronts the chainsaw murderer with the military and the
military service.
- "Der Nächste bitte!" p. 29-31 --
Summary: As the chainsaw murderer tries to
kill Dr. Brinckenstein's wife the scientist (a Frankenstein
persiflage) convinces him to take part in an experiment he
had prepared previously with the help of his assistant using
a vacuum cleaner salesman: the transplanting of a human brain
into a pumpkin.
- "Gut in Schuss" p. 32 -- Summary: As a
result of his former misfortunes the chainsaw murderer
changes his weapon and uses an enormous gun, but at his first
attempt to use it in a dubious dock area against a roughneck
the gun misfires and he gets all beaten up.
- "Auf's Glatteis geführt!" p. 33 --
Summary: Climbing out of a sewer system
where he looked unsuccessfully for new victims the chainsaw
murderer lands in an ice hockey team and gets beaten up.
- "Psycho, der Dreizehnte" p. 34-37 --
Summary: In a slightly different version of
Hitchcock's Psycho, Norman Bates mistakes the chainsaw
murderer trying to murder a girl in a motel shower for his
mother. Trying to escape the Bates' mansion the murderer
smashes the cargo of a glass transport passing by. The driver
(Hitchcock) takes the murderer with him to pay off his debts
and Norman marries the shower girl.
- "Ob blond, ob blau" p. 38-40 -- Summary:
The chainsaw murderer works as substitute for his colleague
Jaws and gets the order to kill agent Blond (a James Bond
parody) who can free himself thanks to a gadget out of Q's
laboratory. As his boss Dr. Zyklop and he finally overpower
Blond they first got mugged by a street gang and then got
caught by the vice squad.
- "Die Geschichte der Null" p. 41-42 --
Summary: In a very vague allusion to
Desclos' erotic novel "Story of O" the chainsaw murderer gets
distracted from his original plan to murder some naked girls
in a castle when he discovers the high quality of the
interior and the women take care of him, until his mother
appears.
- "Jack, der Kipper" p. 43-46 -- Summary:
In a confusing crime story the chainsaw murderer fails to
murder alcoholic Jack the Kipper (colloquial for drinker and
allusion to Ripper) when a parody of Agatha Christie's
Hercules Poirot appears and announces he will solve the crime
in a presentation held in the bar's library, which turns out
to be a simple closed bookcase. The chainsaw murderer does
not go into the cupboard and escapes the fate of being
shipped to Africa in it. He gets caught by a father who urges
him with a gun to marry his daughter.
- "Die süssesten Früchte" p. 47 --
Summary: In a persiflage on Conan Doyle's
Sherlock Holmes an unmasked murderer threatens Holmes when
Watson appears armed with a banana. As the murderer and
Watson argue about the lethal qualities of a banana, Sherlock
shoots them up. In the end he kills himself with an explosive
apple.

artists, Kurt Schaffenberger & Dave Hunt ; letterer, Milt
Snapinn ; colorist, Gene D'Angelo ; editor, Julius
Schwartz. 8 p. in Superman, no. 409 (July 1985). -- SUMMARY
(by Mary Walker): Opens in Australia where Superman stops a
brush fire, saving a kangaroo, thinking that his work is
never done. Flying over the sea he appreciates the beauty,
then finds ocean creatures dying from a toxic spill from a
World War II freighter. He picks up the ship thinking that
though he vowed not to interfere in conflicts between
nations he can't leave this alone (note the conflict has
been over for 40 years!). 'With everything else that needs
to be done in the world, why should I have to protect Earth
from its own inhabitants?' He is conflicted about not
having enough time either as Superman or as Clark Kent.
He'd like to do small acts of kindness like blowing down
acorns for hungry squirrels. He thinks Lana should have
more time with him as Clark. Getting back in time to anchor
the news, an admiring technician gives him perspective, and
he feels better about his lives. -- Call no.:
