Vulcan's Forge

Vulcan's Forge / Roger Leloup ; translated by Jean Jacques Surbeck ; edited by Bernd Metz. -- New York : Catalan Communications, 1989. -- 48 p. : col. ill. ; 28 cm. -- (The Adventures of Yoko, Vic & Paul ; 1) -- (Comcat Comics) -- Translation of: La Forge de Vulcain. -- Science fiction genre. -- Call no.: PN6747.L37F613 1989

Summary: Yoko hears on the TV news that a drilling rig in the Caribbean has encountered an unknown substance. She immediately suspects it to be the stuff her friends the Vinans use. The Vinans are an extraterrestrial race of blue humanoids currently living in exile beneath the Earth. Yoko and her friends have met them previously. Soon Yoko, Vic and Paul arrive in Martinique. An unexplained storm is threatening the drilling platform, and Yoko rescues a Vinan man while working to save the rig. The Vinans arrive, with Yoko's old Vinan girlfriend Kani. Kani explains that the Vinans had been gathering lava to build themselves an island home, and that the drilling has broken a lava conduit. An explosion is expected as the leak gets worse, which might even reactivate nearby Mt. Pelee. Kani asks Yoko to help. Because a bad Vinan named Karpan is in charge, who actually wants to explosion to happen, Yoko and Kani have to sneak through the Vinan city to shut down the lava flow.
