Star-Spangled Kid

Superhero feature mainly in Star Spangled Comics, but also appearing in Leading Comics, as part of the Seven Soldiers of Victory, and in World's Finest Comics. Credits begin with writer Jerry Siegel and artist Hal Sherman, with later Golden Age episodes by writer Joe Samachson and artists Arthur Cazeneuve and Jon Small according to the sampling listed below from the Grand Comics Database. See also the villain Dr. Weerd. The feature title is sometimes given as "Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy," where Stripesy is the Kid's adult sidekick who is almost always present. The Kid's "civilian" name was Sylvester Pemberton, and he later took the name Skyman. In other post-Golden Age comics at least two other characters have used the name Star-Spangled Kid.
