Quindlen, Arthur James.
The Black Diamond Detective Agency : Containing Mayhem,

graphical narrative by Eddie Campbell ; inspired by the
screenplay of C. Gaby Mitchell ; under the auspices of the
illustrious William Horberg. -- New York : First Second,

A rousing tale of the hunt for a mysterious train bomber.
-- Summary (from publisher via SkyRiver): John Hardin is a
desperate man. When a train carrying official US currency
paper explodes in his town, he's the prodigious Black
Diamond Detective Agency's sole suspect. John is innocent,
but his wife is missing, his old friends are coming back to
haunt him--with guns and explosives--and he's on the run
through rural Missouri. This graphic novel based on the
historical journals of Arthur James Quindlen, the agency's
founder, brings a new perspective to that time in America
when small farmers were the backbone of the country, graft
was rampant, and railroads thundered through western towns.

   Gandhi : My Life is My Message / written by Jason Quinn ;

Dutta. -- New Delhi, India : Kalyani Navyug Media, 2013. --
   205 p. : col. ill. ; 26 cm. -- (Campfire Heroes) -- Summary
(from SkyRiver): How did this shy, unassuming lawyer
transform himself into the leader of India's freedom
movement? Renouncing wealth, ambition and comfort, Gandhi
led by example, becoming one with the people he sought to
free, facing imprisonment, hardship and humiliation while
never raising his voice in anger. His strategy of
nonviolent protest would become the model for the US civil
rights movement led by Martin Luther King, Jr. and
continues to change history throughout the world. Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi, better known as the Mahatma or Great
Soul, took on the might of the British Empire armed only
with a message of love and non-violence. In Gandhi: Apostle
of Peace we discover the man behind the legend, following
him from his birth in the Indian coastal town of Porbandar
in 1869, to the moment of his tragic death at the hands of
an assassin in January 1948, just months after the

Quinterno, Dante, 1909-2003--Miscellanea.
"Vera Historia del Indio Patoruzú" / Fernando García,
Hernán Ostuni Rocca. p. 75-88 in Revista Latinoamericana de
   Estudios Sobre la Historieta, v. 3, no. 10 (Junio 2003). --
-- Abstract: Created in 1928 for the pages of the newspaper
Crítica, Patoruzú became the most representative character
in Argentine comics, in spite of much discussion of his
authenticity. This discussion is perhaps not to the point,
since the character's representation is not of its race,
origin, speech or political views but rather of the
environment in which it is surrounded. In this way the
character's creator Dante Quinterno (1909-2003) has
expressed the fluctuating socio-political reality of
Argentina. He was a golpista supporting Uriburu in the
overthrow of Irigoyen in the 1930s, a socalist in the
1940s, a moderate during Peron's first government, and
ended up eclipsing his own virtues being adopted as a
mascot of the process of national reorganization starting
in 1976 that sank Argentina in the bloodiest dictatorship
in its history. -- Abstracts as printed with the article,

   Tomoko Ninomiya. -- Tôkyô : Kôdansha, 2002- . -- ill. ; 18

Pastor): Noda Megumi ("Nodame") is a piano prodigy who has
no discipline and prefers to play by ear. By chance, she
meets Shinichi Chiaki, the top student in the piano program
of a prestigious music college in Japan. Nodame is
immediately head over heels in love with Chiaki, but he
takes much longer to warm up to her unique personality and
quirks. The story follows both of their struggles to pursue
their musical ambitions and eventual success. This
multivolume manga series had been adapted into two
television series (a live action and an animated series),
as well as two live action movies and three video games.
The Nodame character is based on an actual person of the
same name. The main character is not shown with large eyes
and curvilinear figures that are more conventional features
of female characters in anime and manga. -- Romance genre.
