Ma Dalton

Ma Dalton / text by Goscinny ; drawings by Morris ; translated by Frederick W. Nolan. -- London : Glo'worm, 1999. -- 46 p. : col. ill. ; 29 cm. -- (A Lucky Luke Adventure) -- Translation of: Ma Dalton. -- Call no.: PN6747.M64L83813 1999

Summary: Lucky Luke makes friends with Ma Dalton, the Dalton Brothers' mother. She lives alone with her cat most of the time, because her sons are normally in jail. She supports herself through armed robbery of local merchants, which the townspeople conspire to let her do, since she's too proud to accept charity. They don't realize she has a real gun. The Daltons escape from prison, and make their way home, with Joe chained to the dog Rin Tin Can. After they get unchained from the dog, the brothers shave and put on dresses to help Ma with the shopping. The boys prefer to shop at banks, and soon there's an area-wide crime wave. Lucky Luke finds the hideout by following Rin Tin Can as he chases Ma Dalton's cat. To lure the boys to town, Cactus Junction puts on a big Mothers' Day Bazaar, and it works. Ma Dalton herself shows up for a showdown, but is distracted by her cat.
