"Mad Jim"* p. 31-52 (plates 29-50) in Lucky Luke : Spécial
   1 (Marcinelle-Charleroi, Belgique : Dupuis, 1979). --
Summary: Lucky Luke rides into Silverbrook and steps into
the Horseshoe Saloon. Although he has never been to the
town before, everyone thinks they recognize him and they
flee in terror. It seems Lucky Luke has an evil twin named
Mad Jim, a local bad guy who is scheduled to be hung at
dawn. Two other bad guys see an advantage to be had in the
situation. For a share of the hidden loot from Mad Jim's
last bank job, they sneak an unconscious Lucky Luke into
the jail in Mad Jim's place. Jolly Jumper knows the
difference when Mad Jim starts trying to impersonate Lucky
Luke, and the horse almost gets his real master out of jail
in time, but not quite. At the hanging things go wrong and
a free-for-all begins, during which Lucky Luke is able to
sneak away. Lucky Luke tracks Mad Jim to his hideout and
captures the three outlaws. On the trail back towards
Silverbrook with his three prisoners, he is stopped by a
band of Indians who are very displeased when he tries to
make peace by giving them his harmonica. Mad Jim is able to
slip the Indians a bottle of firewater, and soon the
outlaws are free, Lucky Luke is tied to a cactus, and the
Indians are fighting among themselves. Lucky Luke rides
away on Jolly Jumper, still attached to the cactus. That
night Lucky Luke catches the outlaws again and herds them
into town, where the sheriff locks up both lookalikes
because he can't be sure. Jolly Jumper is brought in to
make the identification. -- Call no.: PN6747.M64L8 1979
