Hospitals

In comics adventures, hospitals are places of confinement and danger as much as healing. In the Canardo album Noces de Brume, by Sokal, a super-powerful alien girl has been kept in a hospital by scientists for their observation, and she seems to have developed a resentment of it. In the Schuiten/Peeters album Brüsel, there is an ancient Catholic hospital in which our hero is covered with leeches and barely escapes alive, and later there is a nightmarish ultra-modern hospital from which our hero again barely escapes alive. The album Corto Maltese in Africa by Hugo Pratt ends with the hero in a British hospital, playing out the final week of the story in a coma. See also
