Giants / V. Segrelles ; translation by Robert Legault. -- New York : Nantier Beall Minoustchine, 1999. -- 48 p. : col. ill. ; 29 cm. -- (The Mercenary ; 8) -- Includes a two page framing sequence. -- Call no.: PN6777.S4G513 1999

"Stop Along the Way" p. 4-11 -- Summary: An imposter in The Mercenary's armor slays a dragon and its master, the tasks required in order to rescue a fair maiden. Then he eats the fair maiden. The Mercenary wakes up outside the castle wondering where his armor went, as a flying saucer style UFO fades into the distance.

"Three Wishes" p. 12-18 -- Summary: The Mercenary meets Aladdin's genie, but before Aladdin. The Mercenary is the one who moved him from a clean bottle to that dirty lamp.

"Endore" p. 19-34 -- Summary: The Mercenary rescues a princess from the witch Endore and her giants Roland, Arthur and Lancelot. Endore has cursed the princess: at moonrise she'll turn into the first being she touches. The Mercenary kills Endore and assumes the curse will be cancelled. At moonrise, though, the princess is mounting The Mercenary's dragon and turns into a dragon herself. Rather than return to the princess's father with the new dragon, The Mercenary and the two dragons die temporarily and go to Hell. The Mercenary takes a black globe on the verge of exploding with him, and convinces Satan to make Endore reverse her spell. She does, and the three are revived successfully. The Mercenary leaves the globe behind in Hell.

"The Drone" p. 35-47 -- Summary: The Mercenary saves a damsel in distress from a monster, and it turns out she's a warrior from an all-woman civilization called the Swats. They are then captured by the complementary all-man civilization called the Omks. The Swats attack and rescue The Mercenary, but it's too late for their sister who's been beheaded. It was the Omks who put her out for the monster to eat in the first place. In the Swat country, The Mercenary is taken before the giant queen for a decision as to whether he should be kept alive to breed a new princess. The decision is negative, but the warrior women rebel, kill the queen, and decide to keep The Mercenary as a shared drone. He escapes when their society, now without a queen, gets preoccupied with politics.

Summary: Barney Barrows is a janitor for the Gotham Police
Department, when he is caught in an explosion of the "big
x-ray machine" he's mopping behind. Though he has
previously failed the examination to be a police officer,
he now gains an enlarged head and more brain power. He
deduces the secret identities of Batman and Robin, and
forces them to follow his orders while they look for the
Metals Mob, stealers of things like iridium, tantalum,
tungsten and "all those rare metals." It turns out the
Kyler Aluminum Co. is fencing the metals, and smuggling
them inside hollow bars of aluminum. Just as the gang is
caught, Barney collapses and his head shrinks back to
normal. He forgets the secret identities, and goes back to
