Forlorn Funnies.
Mother, Come Home / Paul Hornschemeier ; with an
introduction by Thomas Tennant. -- 2nd ed. -- Milwaukie,
   Or. : Dark Horse Books, 2003. -- 1 v. : col. ill. ; 24 cm.
-- "This volume collects new material along with issues 2-4
of the comic book series Forlorn Funnies, originally
published by Absence of Ink." -- Summary (from OCLC): The
tale of a father and son struggling, by varying degrees of
escapism and fantasy, to come to terms with the death of
the family's mother. The story weaves through the surreal
and the painfully factual, guided by the careful, somber
colors and inventive pacing unique to Hornschmeier's
storytelling. Mother, Come Home extracts almost tangible
drama from the most tranquil of moments, making that which
is unspoken in each panel easily audible, and almost
uncomfortably experienced. -- Alternative genre. -- Call

The Formula

The Formula / V. Segrelles. -- New York : Nantier Beall Minoustchine, 1985. -- 48 p. : col. ill. ; 30 cm. -- -- (The Mercenary ; 2) -- Translation from Spanish of: El Mercenario : La Fórmula. -- Fantasy genre. -- Call no.: PN6777.S4F613 1985

Summary: The Mercenary is shopping for armor, and admires an expensive suit. Claust the Alchemist offers to buy it for him in return for a few days' work flying to The Plain. It turns out that the alchemist owes his fame to formulas he's been exchanging for opium with a more advanced scientist, the Great Lama. When the Lama tells him the relationship is over, he steals a medallion which he thinks contains the formula for turning anything to gold. The Mercenary and a local warrior, Nan-Tay, pursue the alchemist. It turns out Claust routinely has his escorts killed, so four warriors on dragons are waiting for them. After killing them all, Nan-Tay and The Mercenary proceed on the remaining dragon to Claust's fortress. They confront Claust and get the medallion back, but suspect that he has read the formula. Nan-Tay gives him "additional instructions" for the use of the formula, and Claust then has them both locked up. Using her feminine wiles, Nan-Tay gets them out of the cell before the mixture explodes.

Fornés Collado, Rafael--Articles About.

Collado) p. 191-202 in Revista Latinoamericana de Estudios
respuestas." -- Abstract: Practically unknown abroad and
regrettably forgotten in its homeland, 'Don Sabino' by
Rafael Fornés Collado was one of the most attractive comics
to have been created and published in Cuba in the years
1957-1963. The depth and inspiration of the work are
clearly to be seen in 'Notes of a Cartoonist' and
'Interview with Sabino Fornés,' published in the now
impossible to find January-August 1876 issue of Signos, the
stimulating Santa Clara magazine edited by Samuel Feijóo.
Because of their great interest, we present these materials
here again, which Fornés has wanted to revise, correct and
complete with new observations for this edition. We
attribute their authorship to him alone, since, as he has
told us, the interview was only an expedient format and he
wrote both the questions and the answers himself. --
Abstracts as printed with the article, with some editing of
the English. -- Includes samples of the Don Sabino strip,
which are signed "Fornés". -- Call no.: PN6790.L29R4no.8
