Summary: In American West of the "late 19th century," a threesome of sisters is known collectively on their wanted posters as the "Desperadoes." Bertha Lou is the smart one, The Prickler is the tough one, and Razorblade is the little one they treat like Cinderella. They are being chased by a motorcycle riding bounty hunter named Anastasia Fokoff, who wounds Prickler. A traveling salesman named Bob Shergold tries to help, and they steal his wagon for a trip to Palomino City, where a shipment of gold dust is expected to be vulnerable. Bertha Lou's plan involves building a bomb, and tying Razorblade to the railroad track to stop the train. As Bertha Lou operates a manual switch to divert the train, her old gang boss John Michael Charlier, also after the gold, appears with the same idea. Razorblade stops the train, and Prickler (dressed in girl clothes) distracts the bank president and plants the bomb. Anastasia gets to the train and warns the guards, but then two bombs go off, one set by Charlier and the other by the Prickler. The bank president reveals himself to be part of Charlier's gang. The two gangs get the gold into a barn, and their standoff is interrupted by Anastasia Fokoff. As a result the gold dust is dispersed by a dynamite explosion. Fokoff and Charlier are killed, but the sisters get away.

Summary: Paul is a French photojournalist working in New York, without much luck lately. He gets fired. A Rolls Royce catches his eye, and he photographs the owner in a bar. The man is friendly, and asks to buy the film as he leaves. Paul complies, still not knowing the name of the man. He cashes in his return trip ticket and decides to stay in New York. The Rolls owner's name is Ofield, and he soon comes to Paul's apartment with a job. Ofield's wife is cheating on him, and he wants pictures to prove it so he can get a divorce. It's a dirty job, but not difficult, and Paul takes it. He delivers the photographs, but keeps the negatives. Men saying they are police beat him up and ransack his apartment. Ofield's wife comes to visit him and asks for the negatives, and says her husband never meant to divorce her. He refuses to hand over the negatives. Ofield calls for a meeting and tells Paul to bring the negatives, and at the meeting some gunmen try to kill Paul. He escapes to Hoang-Han's place, a girl friend, but then worries about goons following him to her, and decides to give Ofield the negatives. He can't find Ofield, but Hoang-Han is kidnapped and made to call him into a trap. The trap involves another meeting, at which it turns out that the man with whom Mrs. Ofield was cheating is the head of a government investigation into Ofield's corruption. Ofield is using the pictures to blackmail the investigator. As Paul gives the negatives to the investigators Ofield crashes the meeting with his own goons. A shootout follows, and Ofield and his wife are both killed. Paul sells pictures of the event, and goes back to Paris.

-- English summary (from p. 151): "Kabbal
and Torah in the Work of Joann Sfar. Judaism is omnipresent
in Sfar's work, without ever becoming didactic or rendering
his work hermetic to non-Jews. Nicolas Dessaux shows how he
plunges the reader into atmospheres found in Ashkenazi
tales from Poland and Lithuania, Sephardic legends of the
Ottoman Empire, of Talmudists and Kabbalists." -- Call no.:

traitement historique des biographies de femmes illustres
publiées sous formes de bandes dessinées dans la presse
française à l'usage des jeunes filles dans la période
1945-1975, c'est-à-dire de la Libération à la raréfaction
