Summary: Julie is purchased by a pimp named Leon, to go live in a brothel in Paris where her mother works. Julie starts as a maid, since she is young. Paris is occupied by the Germans, and Leon is a collaborator. He has sold Julie's virginity to a German colonel, who keeps asking if his "little pigeon" is ready yet. The other maid is a black girl, whose life is not easy because of race prejudice. She graduates to become "Blanchette," a full-fledged prostitute. Julie soon demands a promotion, and the Madame decides to let her work with her mother. As a team they cost more, and Julie (now called "Coco") must not lose her virginity. Soon Coco decides they should have a lottery for her virginity, which brings both her and the house a lot of money. Coco spins the big wheel in a mock wedding gown, and Leon rigs it so that his colonel gets the winning number. They go upstairs, but just then the news comes that the Americans have landed at Normandy. The colonel has to leave. The Americans get to Paris, and Blanchette is soon killed by a racist G.I. Coco then gives herself to an officer of the Resistance. He wants to take her away, but she insists on staying in the brothel.
